The Royal Open Air Theatre in Winton has been in Peter Evert's family since 1938. He's allowed the theatre to be used for the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival and says he is delighted the historic building is being given another chance at life. Mr Evert says he believes the festival could one day compare to the Sundance Film Festival in the United States. "That's evolved into a unique form of festival, and this could do that, concentrating on Australian movies rather than international ones and build up from there. I hope it is a success, I've got a feeling it's going to work."
